"I wanted to share with you the wonderful program that George Stylian organized and presented this week together with his very energetic  osteopathic colleague from Cyprus, Dr Petros Katou.

I remember Keith Blagrave D.O., who taught the applied anatomy of the foot and knee at the BSO, bemoaned the fact that osteopaths had given away the treatment of the foot to other professions. He also felt that the analysis and management of posture and gait had become a forgotten factor in general
medical practice.

The course that George and Petros presented was full of case studies as well as an analysis of the anatomy and physiology of gait and posture. The importance of the 1st ray and particularly of the proprioception of the hallux, set the stage for an understanding of how to help many of the children and adults that we see in osteopathic practice. The use of digital photography gave us the ability to see amazing and immediate changes in posture as we analysed and photographed members of the student group.

I came away feeling empowered with a new skill that will help my patients young and old with the Postural Control Insole (PCI) pioneered by Dr Rothbart.

Altogether, I felt I'd gained a major extension to my clinical skills this week. Since the encouragement from Keith Blagrave, I've always loved treating feet (even though they can be smelly at times!!) and I'm really excited about this new and additional skill."

I am really glad that I made the effort to get to Sydney; I thoroughly
enjoyed the course and look forward to seeing how my patients respond. I am enjoying wearing mine and find I keep wanting to wear my runners with the insoles. Thanks to George and Petros for putting on a very informative course.
